a teacher i was really good friends with in highschool (sleepovers, conventions!) gave me all the shadow lady books for my birthday one year. i was already really into video girl ai, it was one of the first anime i owned on vhs—begged my dad to buy em for me for christmas when i was like 13 or something. P: then it was years of saving lunchmoney to buy fansubbed tapes at this little, effinSWEET store called quakerhead after school. alot of the time i would buy anime randomly based on the little picturelabels they had printed out and stuck to the sides. that’s how i first saw one piece, fruits basket, digi charat, samurai x, and bunches of others i can’t remember at the moment. all my lunch money was basically spend there and at tower books, andso my diet consisted of one mountain dew for breakfast, one for lunch. :^D
